Art Investment 50% Tax Break for small businesses
The Australian Tax Office has announced that small businesses (up to $2M turnover) are eligible to receive an investment allowance of 50% on new artworks purchased before 31 December 2009.

Congratulations to Peter Alwast, who has won the $5,000 Non-Acquisitive Prize at the Fremantle Print Award with his work Clouds
Jess MacNeil has been awarded the $20,000 2009 Veolia Acquisitive Prize, for past Primavera artists. Primavera is the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney’s premier showcase for artists under 35.
Grant Stevens has won the John Coburn Award for Emerging Artists at the 58th Blake Prize, with his video work In The Beyond.

Deborah Kelly’s work Tank Man Tango, a dance memorial for the 20th anniversary of the demonstrations at Tiananmen Square, has been shortlisted from a field of 175, for the Sadler’s Wells Global Dance Contest. Peter Alwast and Jonathan Jones are both finalists in the 2009 Fremantle Print Award at the Fremantle Arts Centre, Western Australia, from 26 September to 22 November.
Hayden Folwer is a finalist in the 2009 William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize at Monash Galley of Art. The exhibition runs from 6 November to 13 December.
Hayden Fowler, Jonathan Jones and Grant Stevens feature in Light Sensitive Material: works from the Verghis Collection at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery from 2 October to 15 November.
Jonathan Jones features in I forget to forget, curated by Stephen Gilchrist, at Canberra Contemporary Art Space, from 16 October to 21 November. (exhibition touring from Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne)
Jonathan also features in the 2009 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize with a work from his untitled (domestic heads or tails) series. The exhibition runs from 23 October to 1 November at Woollahra Council Chambers.
